Book Fees and Registration:
A $30.00 book fee is assessed at the beginning of the year to cover the first set of books for new students. If your child took lessons from me last year and is moving on to a new book, I will need a book fee sometime during the first month, otherwise, we can continue in the book they are in. Periodically, your child will need more books. I will send a notice home a few weeks in advance so you can plan for this in your budget. If there is a balance remaining after books have been purchased, I will keep it for any additional books they may need.
Missed Lessons:
There are designated make up days for missed lessons every month. The only acceptable excuses for missing a lesson are personal/family emergencies, and illness. I have carefully planned lesson days according to Chesapeake Public Schools calendar; so Spring Break will be off, as well as Christmas break. Missing a lesson will not change your monthly bill, as I have set aside make up days for that purpose. Please see the calendar for make up dates and non-lesson days. Call me to let me know if you will be gone, so I won’t worry, and so we can schedule a make up time. Due to time restraints, I can only make up one lesson per student, per month, and will not schedule multiple make up days.
Practice:
Students will receive a practice sheet to complete during the week. They will be expected to practice at least 5 days per week—with each song played 5 times. (A lesson will have 3-5 songs to practice each week.) Parents are asked to check and sign the practice sheet to verify the student has practiced. Older students will have a time sheet to complete instead of a practice sheet. For the student to make progress, he/she must practice. If the student does not practice for several times during the month, I will send a note home informing the parents. There may be circumstances when it becomes necessary to skip practice, but make sure it doesn’t become a habit.
Supplies:
You will need to bring your music books, notebook and folder to each lesson. You will need a metronome, full size keyboard, and a music dictionary at home.
Termination:
If you wish to terminate lessons, I require a one-month notice of termination or the student will be billed for the following months scheduled lessons.
