Studio Policies

Practice:

Regular home practice is essential for student success.  Ideally, students should aim for at least five days of practice each week with a duration of 20-30 minutes.  Short daily practice sessions are more effective than one or two long sessions per week.  For beginners, I ask that students practice each song five times each day.  Parent involvement in home practice for young students is essential.  Please help your child to establish and stick to a practice routine.  I have found that sitting with your child when they first begin will allow them to be more successful in their lessons.

Registration:

Each student must complete the registration sheet at the start of the year. Please choose how you would like to be billed, annually or monthly invoice. I place all my students in the schedule, so please provide at least two lesson times you are available. Once scheduled, you have 48 hours to pay for the first month to keep your spot. The first payment for September includes the last week of August. After September, you will be billed based on your payment choice.

Book Fees:

Students will need new books periodically.  A notice will be sent home a few weeks in advance so you can plan accordingly. Parents are expected to purchase books for their students.

Attendance:

As the studio runs at maximum capacity, individual makeup lessons will no longer be offered.  A student who does not attend a lesson will miss the benefit of that lesson.  If the student cannot physically participate, you may choose an online lesson at the scheduled time. It would be best if you cleared it with me as soon as possible beforehand and informed me that you would require an online lesson for the week.  Unless otherwise arranged, regular weekly attendance in the studio is required.  If a student misses a lesson that cannot be completed online, I will assign the lesson activities for the week and send them via email.  If I cancel a lesson due to unforeseen circumstances, I will make those lessons up and have reserved time for that at the end of June.

Supplies:

You must bring ALL your music books, notebooks, flashcards, and folder to a lesson.  You will also need to keep a metronome and a music dictionary at home.  I assign students to practice with the metronome, so you must have one.  You can purchase a digital one relatively inexpensively at Music and Arts in Greenbrier.  For beginners, you may use any keyboard. Still, as your student progresses, it will become necessary for them to have an acoustic or a digital piano with weighted keys and a sustaining foot pedal.

Termination:

If you wish to terminate lessons, a ONE MONTH notice of termination is required.  Students will be billed for the following month’s lesson if the notice is not received.  If you choose to take a month off, the same rules apply.

Tuition:

Payment is due on or before the first of the month.  After the 3rd day, a $5.00 late fee for each week the tuition is late will be assessed.  Tuition remains constant each month for ten months, regardless of attendance.  You receive 38 lessons over ten months per year.

Monthly: $75.00
Family: $70.00 per student
Yearly: $700.00 (September through June.)
